2007-03-15 - 9:35 p.m. so we went to look at that house with the insanely huge yard. it really was insane. seriously. it had pretty much all of the elements we're looking for, but needed a lot of work, some immediately. it was too much hassle for the price. plus, it was a little bigger than what we want. the yard was bigger than we could maintain. the house had too much space, plus we hated the layout and/or decor of the bathrooms. it was a 4 bedroom, 2 living room + den house. we've agreed that 3 bedrooms and one living room + a den is more what we need. or a finished basement instead of a den. something like that. anyway, here's a list of the other cons: and that's just what we could see ourselves. who knows what a home inspection would have turned up. the back of the yard was against municipal property. it was a chainlink fence that had been cut to be sharp at the top, plus it had barbed wire along the top. all this sharp stuff was within pumpkin's regular jumping range and we foresaw terrible doggy injuries if we didn't built a fence there quickly. so there was a lot of cost and hassle involved and in the end the negatives outweighed the positives. so we'll keep looking. it's really early in the year anyway and we've got til the end of september before our lease runs out (and we can always renew it on a 3-4 month basis if we need to).
