go see augustdreams. she needs your love right now.

i'm still crying over her entry today. it's just so sad. i've never met her, or aph - all i have is a couple of pictures she's sent me, and so many wonderful stories. but the news still hurts me.

mike says i'm too senstive sometimes. maybe he's right. but i think i'd rather share in a friend's pain instead of sitting by idly and feel nothing at all.

---------------------------------------------------

yesterday was a busy one and i amazingly managed to get through everything on my to do list. including putting up the huge inflatable grinch. my mom bought it last year and sent it to me in the spring.

it's one of those large, inflatable lawn decorations. it might be the only thing i put up outside for xmas. if mike wants to buy some nice lights, we can put those up too. but there's only one plugin outside and it's currently being taken up by the grinch.

that damn thing was a pain. it has to be screwed into the ground! argh! and it was cold and rainy yesterday. i was not a happy camper. my back and shoulders hate me for it. it only reminded me of why i'm not so fond of xmas.

i also sent out my short story, homecoming yesterday. i sent it to a sci-fi/fantasy contest that offers a grand prize of $4000! that's in usa dollars kids!

about 3 years ago, the prospect of getting american money was much more exciting. thanks to that monkey in office, the canadian dollar is much stronger now. but hey, it'd still end up being something like $5000 canadian. woot!

so keep your fingers crossed for the pumpkin queen. i'll give you a dollar if i actually win.*

i also did a fair amount of writing. i got the new writer's market and took a look through it for other wonderful places to send my short story. i'll probably start sending it out next week.

and then i can start looking for publishers for my novel. i'm still pretty excited about it.

today, i'm going to be experimenting with pumpkins. i've got some tasty recipes. i'll try the pumpkin bread first. and then for dinner (if all goes well) we'll be having pumpkin soup from a tasty-looking recipe that wenchie sent me. hope it all works out.

the weekend was pretty much wasted. i did a few things on saturday, but spent most of my time editing "homecoming". then we went to see harry potter. it was okay. it had it's really cool parts and it's incredibly lame parts.

i think i'll just rent the 5th one, so i can fastforward through anything that doesn't involve the weasely twins (cuz they're the only reason i read that whole crappy book).

i still haven't read the 6th book. i really just don't care anymore. it's not a top priority for me. meh.

on sunday we went to see mike's parents. they're moving into their new monster of a house today. so he wanted to go take some pictures of the old house, since it's the one he grew up in. so we spent all day sunday there.

hmmm... that about covers everything up to the present. i should probably go get my day of pumpkining and writing started.

and don't forget to check out my friend's book, if you haven't already.

daily dose of george carlin:
how can everyone's money be "hard-earned", and everyone's vacation be "well-deserved"? sounds like bull to me.

*the pumpkin queen won't actually give you a dollar. maybe a nice hug though.
